Before each soccer match, make sure you take the time to do some pregame warm-ups and stretching. By following this pregame ritual, you will decrease your chances of sustaining a connective tissue injury. By providing additional blood flow to your muscles, tendons and ligaments, warm-ups and stretching increases your body’s flexibility. Your lower body should be the focus of your stretching exercises.

Don’t be overconfident when you are playing. Although you may possess great skills, you never know what may happen on the field. If you act like nothing can possibly touch you, an unexpected happening could mess up your game.

Whenever you practice playing soccer, aim to do your entire practice without stopping. That is because during an actual game, you will not be stopping very often. Therefore, soccer is a very exhausting game that requires you to be in top shape. By practicing long periods of time without stopping, you will get yourself in better shape so that you can improve your games.

Many times the ball will not be on the ground when it is time to shoot. By learning how to shoot using different techniques, you can be ready to make the shot even if the ball is in mid-air. This volleying technique should be learned by each soccer player for a successful season.

When trying out for soccer, be very vocal with the coach. If he asks you to play a certain position and you cannot do it very well, be honest and let him know. if he insists that you play it, try your best and do it so you don’t seem argumentative.
